An often overlooked but important piece of clothing worn by the U.S. Army from its inception is the winter coat which allowed the common foot soldier to campaign and fight in cold climate conditions. This figure wears the Model 1939 wool enlisted service uniform greatcoat/overcoat. The heavy winter overcoat featured a double breasted, eight button front with brass or plastic domed eagle buttons, notched lapels, two front cut-through pocket openings, split back tail for additional movement, exterior rear cloth waist adjustment belt and shoulder loops making it a very high quality and durable coat for service wear. Throughout late 1944 it was very common to see U.S. soldiers wearing this iconic overcoat throughout the Ardennes Offensive.
