31367 Confederate Texas Brigade Infantry Charging at Right Shoulder No.4

W. Britains

This soldier is dressed as he might have appeared at Antietam (Sharpsburg) in 1862 wearing his black trimmed frock coat. This is supported by photographs taken at encampments before the battle. Rather than a military style kepi or forage cap, he wears the popular beehive crowned felt hat – a more practical hat that protected the wearer from sun and rain. This well equipped soldier wears a Confederate pattern tin drum canteen and an imported English knapsack.
